I love long weekends because they are the perfect excuse to go on a trip. Nonetheless, things have changed due to this pandemic, so I had to start looking for other options.
I grabbed my phone, opened Google Maps and asked: which city have I not visited in Florida?
I wanted to have a beach vacation but close to home and that’s why I chose Naples, FL.
The first thing I did when I started doing my research was to look for lodging. I like to compare hotels and airbnbs to get the best option in regards to price, location and amenities.
After reviewing all my options, I chose an apartment on airbnb that is actually a tiny home. I fell in love with the aesthetics of the place and based on the reviews I couldn’t believe it was available for the Labor Day weekend.
The apartment was very clean and it was perfect for our beach vacation. Some of the amenities are:
- Private entrance
- Water and snacks
- Maps and activities information
- Wifi + TV
The beach is around 15-20 minutes on bike and 5 minutes driving. If you decide to drive, there are two parking options for you. If you visit a County beach, the parking garage is $8 all day and you can move your car to other garages (from the county) without additional payment. If you visit a City beach, there’s only street parking and is very limited. You’ll have to go early in the morning to find a spot and pay by the hour.
In relation to COVID-19, you’ll need to wear a mask for all the places you visit but you can remove it if you are eating or drinking. Also, most restaurants require reservations and don’t take walk-ins.
Here’s a short list of restaurants you should visit:
- Rumba Cuban Cafe – Cuban food
- Celebration Park Naples – food truck park
- Kunjani Craft Coffee & Gallery – coffee and pastries
- Juicelation- organic juices and smoothies
- Bar Tulia – Italian
- Dolce & Salato – Desserts
- Captain & Krewe Seafood Market and Raw Bar- Seafood
- Grouper & Chips- Seafood
- Mediterrano – Mediterranean
- Moura Bistro – Lebanese
- Joe’s Diner – Breakfast
- Skillets- Breakfast
Basically, this weekend all we did was go to the beach, have dinner and relax in the apartment. If that’s something you’re interested in doing, I highly recommend Naples, FL. And of course, staying in this tiny house will make your stay a more pleasant one!
